Onyx blowing in the wind
It all started like most of our trips, spurr of the moment. We wanted to get the family out of the house for Labor Day weekend. We looked up every campsite in Arizona and California. Due to the last second planning there were no vacancies ANYWHERE. I remember one of my co-workers talking about his Mexico trip that he took two weeks prior. I looked into resorts and "AirBnB" in Puerto Peñasco a.k.a Rocky Point. We were working with a low budget, 30 to 100 dollars a night. Finding very few places with vacancies we decided to head down and test our luck. After hours of driving from resorts to hotels looking for vacancies my fiance found a resort just north of Puerto Peñasco, Laguna Shores Resort https://www.lagunashoresresort.com/. It's a beautiful little resort nestled in Choya Bay...kind of off the beaten path and party scene of rocky point. From the highway it's a 2 Mile Drive to the water front resort, from the laguna shores private gated entrance. They have a beautiful pool that over looks the beach and estuary that's right next to it. At night it is far enough from the city light where the stars are immense the arms of milky way is breath taking. I would recommend this place to everyone that wants a quite peaceful atmosphere. Its only a 20 minute drive to the shops and markets of Puerto Penasco. Do to all of the hype from horror stories of bad stuff happening in mexico, I was a little hesitant about taking my family there. Traveling with a 1 and 7 year old is a struggle all of its own but we are all glad we made the trip and are planning for more back to the area. When leaving be ready for the long wait to get back across the boarder. I was worried about crossing the border at night time due to stories Ive heard. But that was also a good experience all of its own. for the 2 miles waiting in line at the border the streets were lined with stands... people selling handcrafted pottery, sculptures, hammocks, anything and everything you could ever think of some of the most beautiful art work i have ever seen. If you have never been please don't let all the bad hype drive you off. every one should experience this unique and beautiful culture the people are so kind and welcoming. I felt more welcomed then traveling to places in the States. If you have any questions please feel free to ask away me and my fiance plan on making more Blog's of all our travels and would love for people to follow us and inspire those who do to get out and travel!
